The weekly report: just a quickie.

Okay, I don't know about anyone else, but I usually take hours (and hours and hours) to write posts. Like, even the stupid ones. And by stupid I mean even these weekly reports I do, haha. I just like to play and move words around too much. Anyways, I only have about 20 minutes right now and I want to get in my weekly post because a) I like them, and b) I posted two super long (kind of boring) posts this week so I better lighten it up.

So since I'm on the clock (1:06), here's my week in no particular order:

Obsessed with: coloring books!

When Johns Mom was here in October she brought me this book. It's called "Magical Mandalas." I've seen this trend going on recently, and I was a little eye-rolley about it, but seriously, I'm addicted. And then I read this article last week, The Zen of Adult Coloring Books and it explains why perfectly. She describes it as "something to do with my hands while I watch Netflix" and I was like, YES! Every night (because Johns never home anymore) I eat dinner, watch a show and color, for like an hour. And it's honestly so relaxing! Normally when I have a show on, I can't stay still. I'm always half in the kitchen cleaning up, or folding laundry because I multi-task to a fault, but this keeps me still. This is the first one I've actually finished, because I keep starting them and then not liking the color scheme so I start a new one, haha. But really, try it guys.

Another obsession:

Can't stop, won't stop. So fricking good. And even fricking better in the freezer.

Watching: like everything because we got cable again! Stupid, but people are coming to visit/Thanksgiving football so we got it for the next month or so until we move. And it really wasn't that bad, price-wise. But, it's so good to have some of my guilty pleasures back. Kardashians, Awkward, Kelly & Michael!!

...and speaking of Kelly & Michael, that's where I used to get like all of my news from and I missed it so much! It was from Kelly this week that I learned an 800 pound alligator was found wandering a parking lot in Sugarland Texas...which is like...right by where we live. She started talking about the story and when she said Texas, I was thinking "oh probably like way far away from us"...no, like the next town over haha. I guess I knew there were alligators here, but I figured they were probably those tiny ones. Well, no...

...not tiny. And that girl there is the "alligator catcher" which is what I think most people find so crazy about this story. If you click up there where I highlighted, you can see her wrestle that big guy down. And then they borrowed a forklift from a nearby Home Depot to move him onto a truck...and now he is going to live out his life in a wildlife park where he will "have lots of girlfriends" they say. (I thought that part was soooo funny, I told John like 4 times.)

Missing: John. Who's never home, like ever! ("like ever" = Taylor Swift voice.) But this too shall pass right? I think that's the phrase I'm looking for. Or, "absence makes the heart grow fonder?" Whatever it is, I'm basically trying to keep the mind frame that it will get better, because it will.

Annoyed by: MOSQUITOS!! What is with the mosquitos right now? They're insane.

Also annoyed because: it's getting dark so early! And taking Ted on our nightly walk while it's dark now = HUNDREDS OF MOSQUITOS!

Contemplating: getting a snapchat. Well, I got one, but I've only been creeping. (Don't look for me, you won't find me!) Mostly on bloggers. I'm finding now that it makes me love some people and hate some people. Like there's one blogger I thought I liked...and now I don't. Anyways, besides that, I think I like it. It looks fun. But why does it have to be so confusing??! God bless Candace, who I emailed about it and she sent me some youtube videos to explain. (Haha, seriously she did, love you girl.) So I'm going to wait a little bit longer..but everyone else send me your snapchat names so I can watch you haha.

RSVP'd to: my cousins wedding in Chicago. In December. Around the time we are moving. So, wish us luck with that.

Speaking of moving...plans?: none yet. Mostly just a lot of talk about how we hate moving companies. Already planning on throwing everything out. Seriously, if anyone ever comes over and asks why we have no furniture. Try moving it in shipping crates.

And my times up! It's 1:30... so, 24 minutes. Not bad.

Have a good weekend! x

  1. yay snapchat!! Now Jason knows you're real hahah (like I said, he is always teasing me like, 'they're not real, they're just old guys trying to talk to you!!') SO TAKE THAT JASON ;) I hate that it's getting darker earlier, too!! I used to come home from work and have like 2 hours of sunlight and now I come home and it's already basically night time. Jason would LOVE to get cable for the sake of sports haha but luckily his parents love close by so he always records the games and goes over to watch it later. Can't wait for football on Thanksgiving.....Pretty much my excuse to keep eating while everyone is too into football to notice I've eaten like everything. Also watched that alligator video, HOW did she do that?!!!

  2. I tried Snapchat for a bit but mostly, I just got a lot of stupid snaps from people that I didn't really care to see,s so I stopped logging in. I mean, just text me a picture if you want to show me something. It doesn't even take another app. I was just reminiscing about those peanut butter cups with my husband yesterday! We used to get them all the time and haven't bought them in over a year and I WANT SOME! But I want to stop eating so much sugar (I am failing miserably), so I decided not to make a special trip to Trader Joe's to get them. The only thing saving me from them is that extra trip part. The only reason my husband won't let me get rid of cable is sports. I would love to free up an extra $100 a month, but he says no.

    1. I've been trying to ignore these peanut butter cups forever, but I finally broke down and bought them and now I'll be hooked. Forever.

  3. That was on the news here too! When we first moved here they kept showing my junior high in Katy on the news because there was an alligator outside a classroom door. It's very strange what stories make the news here but mostly anything ridiculous from the US that they can make fun of.

I don't follow too many bloggers on snapchat for that very reason. I've unfollowed multiple people on Insta because I realized how ridiculous they were via snap. You can follow me (@courtneyalkek) but I'm either not snapping for weeks or blowing it up. I also don't ever talk in my snaps because it creeps me out.

    1. No way, we live in Katy! Seriously I'm freaked out now thinking there's alligators everywhere. This is all new to me lol. That's so funny it was on the news there! Do you freak out like "that's Texas!!!" every time lol? I would. I mean I did when she said it was in Sugarland and I don't even live there lol. Snapchat is interesting because it really does show a different side to bloggers in particular. Like in a blog post their house might look spotless and white and bright, but in their snap it's like completely the opposite lol. And people act way different. I almost feel like it brings out the immaturity or something, like everyone's acting stupid. I probably will too though lol. I snapped (is that what it's called?) Candace for practice and I felt really dumb talking to myself while looking at myself. It's probably the same reason that I hate FaceTime. So I think I'll just stay quiet too. And I'm going to follow you for sure so I can see Australia live!

  4. Haha! I have a friend in town this weekend and she keeps talking about snapchat. I was like, "I'm about 100 years old and have no idea how to use it." So a got a brief tutorial, but knowing me I'd use it for like 5 minutes and never again! It would be fun to watch sometimes though...I guess? That color book is AWESOME and serious concentration to stick with the colors in the right place. Once again, for me, I like the idea but I would probably only do that for 5 minutes lol. I miss cable only for the guilty pleasure reality shows!

    1. LOL no, I AM 100 years old. I watched some peoples snaps from last night..and they were all out having fun and I was kind of feeling like a loser because I made tea and had my little tea cookies at like 8..then read a book...and then turned the lights off by 9:30 for bed. So if I do start using it...I will be the most boring person to watch. I'll have no followers. Unless you want to see the 20 videos I take a day of me asking Ted if he's my best friend. I think you would like this coloring book thing!!! It's going to take me weeks to finish one page, but it's nice to use it when I'm like waiting for something else. Like I did today while I was on the phone on hold. Stupid situations like that.

  5. I soooo looked into getting some adult coloring books just this week! They look like so much fun! Also, don't google adult coloring books unless you want some raunchy stuff hahaha. PSA. I never ever ever use my snapchat because I'm so lame. Lol. I don't really get it either. Also, I so wanna know who you don't like anymore because of snapchat!!!!

  6. Ummm I wanna know who this blogger is that you thought you liked but now you dont!!! #sonosy hahaha Also, should I get a snapchat? It seems so confusing. I'm up in the air about it. Also, I love Chicago so frickin much. It's one of my favorite cities, for real. I recommend grabbing a bag of garretts while you're there and getting in on some deep dish pizza, too. Ugh. The best.

Also, I'm sorry your husband has been MIA because of work lately. I know the feeling. Before my husband transferred into the office he was out of state Monday-Friday and I got to see him for two short days on the weekend. I was so sad. He's my bff. Like I don't have many gal pals. So when I want to have my nails done, I take him. When I want to go to Target, him again. You see where I'm going with this? Hopefully things get better soon. I know you are probably looking forward to some (hopefully!) time off this holiday season. Xo
