August Leftovers.

I'm going to start off with this picture because it was one of the highlights of my month, for sure. I ALMOST GOT TO MEET AUTUMN CALABRESE. She's the creator of the 21 Day Fix!! I went to a coaching event and she was there to do a live workout with us (serious perks of living in a big city), and 200 people were chosen at random to take a picture with her and I was super sad I didn't get chosen...so I just forced my way to the front instead and took about 400 selfies, lol. Seriously, there are very few times in life where I will push my way through for things. One is if there is a fire and two is if there is a celebrity in the house. (Yes, she is a celebrity in my world.)

And then a gym selfie because I set out to run two miles in August, and I did it FOUR TIMES!! And then again this week!! So BOOM. For real though, I'd love to find somewhere to run outside, the treadmill is so mind numbing. I listen to podcasts, which occupies my thoughts somewhat, but going back and forth between the four things in front of me that I have to stare at gets old.

But enough about me, I said this month I was going to take more pictures of John, so...

John on our way to dinner one night...

John at the dog park...

I already told this story on snapchat but it was really funny/embarrassing so I might as well repeat it here to remember forever. So, we were leaving to take Ted to the dog park and because we were just going to the car, we didn't put him on his leash. And in the parking lot he spotted one of our neighbors taking their trash out...and he went running full speed towards this guy. And this guy was SO TERRIFIED. He had like three or four bags of trash and he threw them all at Ted and then started walking backwards so fast both his shoes fell off. And I finally caught Ted right before he was about to jump on this guy (to say hi) and I was like yelling, "sorry sorry he's nice!!" And the guy was like, "WATCH YOUR DOG." And then I took Ted around to the back of our car to hide and started to cry, hahahaha. I hate to be "in trouble." It's so stupid. And meanwhile John was like, "good job Ted." Lol.

And that was the last time we went to the dog park because this lil boy has been on house arrest since last week because of his surgery. He was like drugged up/tired for ONE DAY, and then totally back to normal. As I'm writing this right now he's throwing all his toys at John who's trying to watch tv in the couch, lol. He's so wild.

This is him following me around with toys. And he still lays like a frog. Is this weird? At the vet recently he did this and some lady was like, "OH MY GOSH THAT'S SO FUNNY." And I was like, "what? He always does that. Is that not normal lol?" And I was worried he wouldn't do it anymore...but he does. (Great story I know. Ok, enough about Ted, I swear.)

So moving on, did anyone notice Johns new favorite hat in those pictures? It's a Yeti. We like Yeti. We can't afford Yeti, lol. But this was ours for a night last week. I was at the mall getting something for John (work jeans over and over and over) and he texts me, "hey is there a Bass Pro there? I need a Yeti cooler." And I was like, "no." Because I didn't see a Bass Pro and I did not want to be at the mall any longer, lol. But apparently there was and when he got home that night we went BACK to the mall to get this. For work, lol? Don't ask me. But while we were paying I was like, "HOW? WHAT? HOWWW?!" Really. How? (If you don't know, that thing was $350!!!!)

And my new favorite hat. Just kidding. I didn't buy this, but should I have? When we were at the game a few weeks ago and it was SO HOT, I almost bought a hat just to get the sun off of me. (Notice how sweaty I am, lol) And John was trying to tell me this looked good on me, so he took a picture. I really wish I could be a baseball wearing hat person, but I just don't know. We're actually going to game tonight (with friends!! insert surprised face!!) so maybe I will get one...

And now let's get into the food....of course. This is so weird, but has been my super quick go to snack lately. Mixed frozen veggies with Franks got sauce, lol. Weird? Or awesome?

And then chicken. My little secret to meal prep/healthy eating. ALWAYS HAVE CHICKEN! I either buy a whole roasted chicken from Kroger each week and shred it, or I boil a few breasts and shred those. (Kroger's not as healthy, but quicker.) The things you can do with a bag of shredded chicken is...endless. Last week I sautéed some in a pan with salsa and peppers and then threw them on corn tortilla chips and topped with greek yogurt and avocado. BOOM. Chicken. The problem solver of the clean eating world. I'm telling you.

Also, these energy bars from Costco....that I CANNOT STOP eating. I picked these up because honestly, I'm trying to lay off the peanut butter and this probably doesn't make any sense, but when I have no snacks I end up eating spoonfuls of peanut butter. And too much peanut butter is not good. Believe it or not, it is not a "protein" like I though my entire life up until recently, lol. It's fat. Not that I'm scared of fat, but a cup full of fat a day is good for no one. So these were an attempt to snack better. And I don't really feel bad about eating them. But John hates them, lol...so they're ALL MINE.

And then this is just because...I always take these super insightful books to the pool and I'm like, "oh my gosh, I have to Instagram about this." But I don't have any pictures and don't want to take a picture of my face, or my feet at the pool. So I took this. And didn't Instagram anything. And instead just told that stupid story here instead, lol...

And that'll wrap up August 2016. SUPER exciting times guys. Not going to lie though, September is going to be awesome and as far as I can see until the end of year will be too, so I'm excited. I hate to admit it, but I love fall. Cheers to all the months that end in BERRRR!

Until next time, xx.

  1. I have to say that if a dog ran over to me by myself I would not freak out. Okay, I'd freak out, but probably in a happy excited "OH MY GOSH A DOG TO PET WAY!" But at our apartment, this guy with a stupid pug would always let his dog out without a leash without checking who was out there...and it would run straight for our dogs (trying to be friendly) but our dogs DO NOT like that, so then we're trying to grab them so they don't eat the thing, and it's the most stressful situation in the entire world.

You look seriously cute in that hat. Since I've become a t-shirt/jeans/converse person a lot of the time, I wish I could be a baseball cap person too! (But not sure what team...? Maybe just a non-sports one.) But I don't think I can pull them off.

    1. Lol yeah the team thing is hard. I figure since we live here for real now I can be a Texas fan....even if I spent most of my life in Michigan lol, whatever. And honestly the Ted thing was all John, I'm way more considerate of people but John thinks Ted should just be allowed to do whatever he wants lol.

    1. Hahahahaha I know. Like he's so stupid and playful looking I don't know how anyone could possibly think he's going to hurt them. But, I know not everyone knows dogs or has grown up around them. So I felt really bad lol.

  3. I would have cried too! I hate feeling like I'm in trouble, I take it so personally. Congrats on the running goals. It takes me so long to ease back into running but once I do it gets easier everytime.

  4. I somehow missed that story on Instagram but it was great. I'm glad you'll remember it forever! In all fairness, even if Ted is nice, I've been bit super randomly by dogs that have just run up to me and I thought they were saying hi, and now I get kind of nervous when dogs run my way! I wouldn't throw my trash, but I would definitely get nervous! Do you do intervals when you run? I find that the only way for me to stay sane is to do intervals. And I actually love running on the treadmill for that reason. I need to be more creative with my chicken. We always buy chicken but then I never know what to do with it.

    1. I'm totally going to try doing intervals. Do you do like 5 minutes running/1 minute walking or what?!!? Tell me!!

  5. Oh my gosh, I would die if a dog came running over to me! Not die like freaking out but because I'm so excited about having a dog coming over to me. Haha, I miss having a pet so much & just want to pet every single dog I see whenever I'm out walking somewhere. Running on the treadmill is so boring! I hate running but know I gotta do it but I get so bored so quickly. I've never thought about doing shredded chicken with a rotisserie one! But I'm super picky about leftover chicken & can't stand how it tastes when it's reheated, haha. If I could get over that, I would have so many more meal options!
